About me

Hello! I’m Yigit (pronounced as Yeat) Okar, an economist and an engineer who loves to combine economics, machine learning and AI. I recently earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington, where I was advised by Prof. Yanqin Fan. During my PhD, I specialized in incorporating text as a data source to applied micro-econometrics. I also interned at Amazon a couple times as an economist where I worked on policy evaluation problems using causal inference. Before all of that, I studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bogazici University, Istanbul.
